Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes - Viognier "Noble Epine"
With more than a millenium of history, the Northern Rhône valley is the craddle of Viognier grape. Noble Epine is a fancy, delicate and versatile wine. The ideal wine to be drunk at an informal get-together with friends. Noble épine is a reference to the Hawthorn tree that shape the Rhodanian lansdscapes. Vineyard : The soil is mainly composed of rocky granite and loess. Planted on steep slopes, the vines are domesticated with trellis. The yield reaches 45 hectoliters per hectare. The grapes are hand-picked when fully ripe. Those ones are gently pressed in pneumatic press after skin maceration. Fermentation is carried out in controlled temperatures steel vats. Cross flow filtration is done before bottling. Tasting : Brillant gold color. Typical nose of the Viognier with ripe yellow fruits, with white flower notes such as hawthorn. The bergamote orange brings a heady scent. You will be seduced by the discreet oaky overnotes. On the palate good balance of freshness and structure. Recommended on its own or accompanied with fish in sauce and exotic cooking.
