Terre des Lys Muscadet

TERROIR The Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie appellation owes its name to the two rivers that cross the vineyard, the “Sèvre Nantaise” and the “Petite Maine”. The vines which produce this specific cuvée were planted 15 to 35 years ago; they are managed with a Guyot pruning system and grow on the Maine slopes with a sandy loam soil with weathered granite, which allows the roots to go down deeply to get nutrients. The vines get the influence of a fresh and windy oceanic climate and produce approximately 50 to 55 hl/ha. GRAPE VARIETIES Melon de Bourgogne 100% WINEMAKING & AGING The harvest takes place in September and the grapes are always collected during the night in order to keep as much freshness as possible; in the cellar, after a subtle pneumatic pressing, the fermentation takes place in underground vats at temperature-controlled around 16-18°C. Throughout the winter, the Muscadet remains on "its lees", without any racking. Over the months, the aromatic complexity is affirmed and the structure is amplified, the mineral notes of the granite will add complexity to the existing aromas resulting from the alcoholic fermentation. Without racking, the trapped carbon dioxide protects the aromas and gives the Muscadet a unique freshness and pearliness. TASTING NOTE This wine, presenting a pale brilliant gold colour, has an expressive nose, where the flavours of citrus fruits (grapefruit, orange) are completed by floral nuances. In mouth, the wine starts with a fresh and fruity taste, enhanced by the power of a beautiful minerality, nuances of anise and a hint of menthol. The tonic and gourmet finish reminds us the freshness of lemon zests. This wine will be perfect as an aperitif and also during a meal with seafood, shellfish and fish dishes, Asian cuisine or even young cheeses. Temperature of service: 10-12 °C
