Smoked diots
Traditional sausage of the Savoyard cuisine, "Diot" or diau means, in Savoyard dialect, small sausage or simply sausage.
It is a minced pork sausage flavoured with nutmeg.
They are eaten cooked: grilled or simmered but traditionally they are cooked in white or red wine with onion.
They can be eaten hot or cold.
Hot, they are usually accompanied by boiled potatoes, crozets, polenta or lentils.
Cold, they are eaten with mustard, or sliced into a salad or sandwich.
