COGNAC PAINTURAUD FRERES

Who are we

Founded in 1804, our estate was rebuilt and operated at the end of the 19th century by Hippolyte Painturaud, after the phylloxera crisis. In 1934 that Jacques-Guy Painturaud decided to market his cognacs and Pineaux des Charentes under his own name, in order to distinguish himself from the big houses. Thus, Maison Painturaud Frères was born. His son Jacques succeeded him in 1973. He expanded the business and the vineyard over the years. In 2010, Jacques handed over the business to his sons Jean-Philippe, Vincent, Matthieu, and Emmanuel, representing the fourth generation of Maison Painturaud Frères, so they could continue to carry on 200 years of skill, know-how and family tradition.. The 4 brothers produce authentic, high-end cognacs and Pineaux des Charentes They come from a unique “terroir” and secular skills, family traditions passed on from father to son to offer consumers a rare experience. Our 40 hectares vineyard is based in Grande Champagne, 1st Cru of Cognac appellation. Thanks to this unique terroir we are able to make very fine eau-de-vies, which can be aged in oak barrels for decades. We are very concerned about our environment. Twenty years ago, we committed to a “culture raisonnée” and received in 2017 the label HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), level 3, the highest level. We own our own still for the production of our eaux-de-vie, and on the estate are also our aging cellars, where the eaux-de-vie, once out of the still, will be aged for many years (from 5 years to 80 years and more). Once this aging process is completed, we create blends to achieve a precise quality and harmony. A meticulous process that allows each consumer to recognize and appreciate the Cognac of their choice.
