CHATEAU DE MELIN
Region: FRANCE, BOURGOGNE
Who are we
Since the French Revolution, seven generations of family winemakers have continued in succession. During the 1930s, Paul Dumay managed 10 hectares in the Maranges Valley. Upon his death in 1968, his daughter Marie-Claire Derats-Dumay and her husband Jean-Claude took over the Domaine Paul Dumay. Between 1970 and 1995, they acquired many small plots in the Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits regions, which expanded the estate to include 15 hectares of vines. In 2000, Arnaud, their son, educated as an Engineer and following a 10-year career in the construction industry, was captured by tradition: with his wife Hélène, they bought the Château de Melin, located on the town of Auxey-Duresses, and decide to settle the family estate vineyards. The Château de Melin currently operates 28 hectares of vineyards and produces 17 appellations: 15 in the Côtes de Beaune and 2 in the Côtes de Nuits areas. The history of the Château took on a new dimension with the arrival of the younger generation. In 2017, their yougest son Thomas decided to join the family adventure. His passion bring a new energy, reinforcing the family tradition. Then, in 2023, it was the turn of the eldest son, Guillaume, to return to the estate after a career change, bringing his own vision and enrichting the family heritage. As the eighth generation of winegrowers, their commitment bears witness to their deep love for this terroir and its wines.
