Who are we

Jean Merlaut is a true wine connoisseur full of passion and experience. After 25 years at the helm of Château Gruaud-Larose (Saint-Julien, Medoc), classified 1855 Second Growth, he is primed for his new challenges. From reviving notable “terroirs” to pursuing his ambitions to produce fine Bordeaux wines, he is also commercializing worldwide both traditional and innovative French wines. In Jean Merlaut Export, you’ll find 2 distinct lines: 100% Jean Merlaut domains in the Bordeaux region including 3 magnificent Estates. Château Malagar the former property of the French Nobel Prize in 1952 offering now great red wines with a fantastic ability to age. The second Estate located alos on the right bank of the river is Château Sainte-Catherine producing soft and delicate wines. Château Saint Bonnet is one of the largest property in Medoc held by Régis Porfilet, former viticulturist of Château Lafite. The wines are typically rich and intense. Finally Jean Merlaut-Export also offers an exceptional collection of Bordeaux’s Grands Crus with more than 1100 references of the best wines bought from the Château and stored in its own warehouse for 30 years.
