CHATEAU GALOUPEAU
Who are we
Château Galoupeau, managed by Véronique Massieu and Léonard Maigre, is an artisanal family vineyard in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers: The cellar is located in the village of St André du Bois and the 25 hectares vineyard extends in different plots in four surrounding municipalities. The estate has been in Véronique's family for many generations. The oldest family records attest that certain plots were already cultivated in vines before the French Revolution. With the takeover of the estate in 2017 by the new generation, a significant ecological transition has been made towards sustainable agriculture concerned with preserving the environment: vegan label in 2017, High Environmental Value label in 2018 and Terra Vitis in 2019. Thus, the rows of vines are left with grass to preserve soil life. Luckily, in this hilly landscape where vineyards and forests alternate, many plots are surrounded by woods, which guarantees a real reservoir of biodiversity. The estate now produces wines in the Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur red and Bordeaux Blanc sec appellation as well as a small quantity of rosé wine in IGP Atlantique. Part of the production is also vinified in kosher under the control of the rabbinical authorities for the development of vintages for the Jewish community.
