CHATEAU FORTIA

Who are we

Château Fortia is located at the heart of the most famous appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and it is one of the oldest wine-making estates of the appellation. Château Fortia stretches over 36 hectares of which 32 are devoted to growing vines. The vineyard constitutes a single block that includes 30 hectares of red grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre and 2 hectares of white varieties: Clairette, Roussanne and Grenache blanc. The vines are located on gentle south-facing slopes which are covered in rounded pebbles that play an important role for our vines. They accumulate the warmth of the day which they then give off at night, fostering superb ripeness and concentration in our grapes. Regularly swept by the winds of the mistral and enjoying a warm and dry climate, the vines grown on the estate give rise to powerful, tannic and concentrated wines. All the vineyard practices are in line with the terms of the Terra Vitis and High Environmental Value charters for sustainable agriculture. Château Fortia produces one white and four red blends. The white wine is characterized by a gold yellow colour, it is dry, floral and fruity with moderate mineral notes. The red wines are of a beautiful deep purple garnet colour. Rich, balanced and fruity, they can age several years. Each year Château Fortia wines are recognized with awards in different national and international wine competitions.
