Who are we

Château de Jau is a family owned estate located in the Agly Valley in the heart of Roussillon area. Certified organic farming since 2021, the hundred hectares that make up the estate are cultivated in the respect for the environment on the Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation area but also IGP Côtes Catalanes. Planted on a wide variety of soils with different exposures, we produce grapes of perfect quality vinified with precision by our cellar master Jérôme, closely monitored by our oenologist Hervé Sabardeil, all with very few oenological inputs. We produce a wide range of wines, red, white, rosé, orange dry but also natural sweet wines and a sparkling Muscat. Jau was formerly an abbey where Cistercian monks already cultivated vines and had a silk farm activity. In the 1960s, the Dauré family, natural sweet wines negociants, bought the estate, replanted the vineyard, built a new cellar and began to produce dry wines which today are distributed in around thirty countries abroad. They have also opened a contemporary art gallery as well as a restaurant on their property to invite visitors to taste the wines of the estate around a tasty winegrower's menu. More recently, cottages have been renovated to sleep in the middle of the vineyards in the absolute calm. In a middle of luxuriuous wild garrigue, Jau captures the soul of Roussillon and produces wines full of freshness and conviviality.
