VIGNOBLES MOURGUES

Who are we

Vignobles Mourgues is a family wine Estate located in the village of Landerrouat, in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, about 80 km east of Bordeaux. The Mourgues family is a long line of winegrowers from fathers to sons since the 18th century: the current manager, Jeremy Mourgues, 41, was raised among the vines and inherited the family passion for wine from his parents and their parents before them. The family Estate vineyard is located on one of the highest plateaus of Gironde, giving vines the perfect condition for the grapes to ripe. Today, it covers 395 hectares: 311 hectares in AOP Bordeaux with 3 Châteaux (Château Talmont, Château Bel-Air and Château Segonzac la Forêt), 80 hectares in IGP Atlantique (under the brand HECLA, named after Jérémy's daughters HEloïse and CLArisse) and 4 hectares in Vin de France (Closerie Vitis Arbor, new agroforestry project). There are 75% of red grapes varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) and 25% of white grapes varieties (Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Ugni Blanc, Muscadelle and Colombard). The family estate is HVE-certified (High Environmental Value), a testimony to the family's commitment to sustainable agriculture. Since 2019, Jérémy has been producing his own bottles of wine (red, white, rosé), selecting the best grapes from the vineyards of the family estate. Jérémy calls on Florent Niautou, his consultant-oenologist, and the team members of Hubert de Boüard Consulting, to assist him in the best winemaking practices and blending. In their modern and functional winery, they enjoy making wines that reflect the beautiful terroir on which grapes are grown. Their keywords to describe the great wines they produce are: fresh fruit, generosity, balance. The wines of the family Estate have already convinced the wine experts: for the last 3 years, they have received numerous medals and good ratings in the national and international press (James Suckling, Decanter, Wine Enthusiast, Concours de Bordeaux, Concours de Lyon...). This is a true acknowledgement for the dedicated work of the teams. Finally, Jérémy currently works on a beautiful agroforestry project named “Closerie Vitis Arbor”: 4 hectares of vines, which are grown biodynamically, with fruit trees among them. The first wines will be produced from the 2023 vintage. This property will soon become a privileged site for wine tourism: it will be able to accommodate international visitors, in guest rooms overlooking the nature and the vines.
