DOMAINE DES HAUTS PERRAYS
Who are we
Owned and managed by Gabin Charnier and Stéphane Valenti, Domaine des Hauts Perrays is situated in the Loire Valley, more specifically in the region of Coteaux du Layon. Our vineyard is composed of 10 ha (22.2 acre) of Chenin blanc, king of grape variety in Anjou, 4 ha (9.9 acre) of Cabernet Franc. Grolleau, Gamay and Chardonnay complete the vineyard for a total of 15,7ha (37 acre). Due to its proximity to the river Layon, the soil at Domaine des Hauts Perrays contains much schist and quartz, which lends a distinct mineral characteristic to the wines produced here. The estate is certified HEV (High Environmental Value) which promotes environmentally-friendly practices. Actually no synthetic herbicides and pesticides are used (we practice tillage, copper and sulphur spraying,…). Both oenologists, we firstly learned precision and finesse of burgundian winemaking. Some vinifications in France (Burgundy, Loire valley) and overseas (USA, Canada, New Zealand) have developed our knowledge, our skills before to fall in love with Anjou region. We particulary take care of grape maturity, wine fermenting temperatures, aging of our wines. Like for our vineyard, we use less chemicals inputs as possible.
