DISTILLERIE DU PERIGORD / CHERRY ROCHER

Who are we

Barthelemy Rocher was born in 1677. Adult, he went to La Côte-Saint-André to help an uncle canon, who was in charge of the town's hospices. It was at this time that he discovered the distillation processes. An accomplished botanist, he became passionate about the aromas of herbs and fruits and developed several floral elixirs. He got the good idea to macerate cherries with sugar, and it was thanks to him that in 1705 the first distillery of France was born: Cherry Rocher. Nowadays, we also have another distillery in Perigord: The Distillerie du Périgord was founded in 1860 by Emile Lapouge in the medieval town of Sarlat, in the Black Périgord. We produce aperitifs and after dinner liqueurs.
