Saint-Joseph Tradition
Vineyard : Saint-Joseph is situated along the granitic steep, narrow valley that embraces the Rhône river. The plots are located between 150 and 350 meters above sea level, south-southeast facing. They enjoy the best hours of sunshine thus ensuring good ripening. Soil is mainly composed of rocky and crumbly granite, very shallow surface. Water drains away easily. These good conditions, combined with unique geology give rise to some inimitable wines. Yields between 35 and 40 hectoliters per hectare. 100% hand-picked at the end of September.
In the cellar : 100% de-stemmed. 10 days maceration before alcoholic fermentation in cooling system stainless steel tanks. Natural yeast. Aged 6 months in stainless steel tanks. No fining, No barrel-ageing. Filtration before bottling.
Tasting : The color is dark red, almost purple. The flagrant and expressive nose gives off hints of black fruits and pepper notes. The palate is charming with a well-balanced structure of freshness and concentration. The finish lingers on a mineral shade.
Leave to rest for a few minutes by decanting and serve at room temperature. This friendly wine is a perfect match with red meats and mature cheeses.
