Saint-Joseph "Cœur de Rochevine" - Vintage 2017 - Single Vineyard
Overlooking the Rhône river, this plot has an outstanding solar resource due to its South, South-East exposure. It spreads out on granitic soil at an altitude of 150 to 300 meters. Some remarkable terroir of great benefit for Syrah. Rochevine or better to say « Vine from the rock » expressess all the quintessence of the Northern Rhône terroir. The parcels are facing due south, but most twist and turn along the slopes, with vines clinging to narrow terraces. This 2,6 ha plot selection allow tasters to explore the fullness and richness of a great Northern Rhône Wine. Cœur de Rochevine is the epitome of elegance and finesse. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness. Particular cultural attention was paid to every single plant. Short pruning, de-budding. Low yields (30 to 35hl/hectare). In the cellar : The fermentation takes place in traditional concrete tanks after 4 days pre-fermentary skin contact at cool temperatures. Daily cap pushing down and pumping over are carried out. Maceration goes on at controlled temperatures of 26°C to 28°C. Aged 12 months in new oak barrels. Tasting : An invitation to elegance, an appeal to your senses. Push the button pleasure, flatter all your senses. The deep ruby red with velvet tinges dress will seduce you. The nose takes on a perfume of black fruit, spice, blueberries and mocha. The texture is well balanced with some tight and mature tanins, the finish really lingers with a discreet mint note. Cœur de Rochevine can evolve for decades. To open between 16 to 18°C and ideally after being decanted one hour. Recommended with red meats or game. Perfect also with mature cheeses.
