Neroli hydrolate on leucidal
The bitter orange tree is a source of a wide variety of extracts used in perfumery, aromas and cosmetics. The tree originated in Minor Asia and was introduced and planted throughout Mediterranean Europe by the Arabs in the 9th century. The bitter orange tree is cultivated mainly for its flowers, which are used to produce a wide range of products: essential oil, absolute, but also for its fruit (bitter orange oil) and leaves (petitgrain). The essential oil of the flowers is commonly known as neroli. We grow bitter orange trees on our organic farm in Morocco to produce the full range of these products. In order to offer a preserved, safe and innovative neroli hydrolate, we have developed a reference on leucidal. Leucidal is a multifunctional antimicrobial active ingredient of natural origin. It is not considered as a preservative because it is not listed on the list of preservatives authorised by the European cosmetic regulation. However, Leucidal products have the same MDD as preserved hydrolats, namely: 2 years.
