Mondot, second wine of Ch. Troplong Mondot
Mondot, is the second wine of Château Troplong Mondot (Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé « B »). It is an introduction to the style of Troplong Mondot as it reveals with elegance an intense energy and aromatic expression. It benefits from ideal exposure and geological conditions. A layer of clay covered by a thick layer of limestone, with fragments of flint and limestone overlying the groundwater. Since 2017, the SCOR group has owned this historic property. Today, the former managing director of Château Cos d'Estournel, Aymeric de Gironde, is at the helm of this fine estate. He teams up with oenologist Thomas Duclos to produce increasingly high-quality wines that reflect the terroir of Saint-Emilion. Up to 40% of the wine is matured in stainless steel vats to develop its aromatic intensity, density and the tension created by the limestone soils. A reference among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot watches over a 43-hectare vineyard in a single block, culminating at an altitude of 110 metres. All the vines are grown using integrated viticulture methods. The vines are an average of 30 years old.
