AIKAN Intense 40% - 70cl The first tropicalized whisky aged with "high ester" rum casks, hence its name in reference to its aromatic intensity borrowed from the greatest rums. A blended whisky distilled and aged in Scotland then refined with large aroma rum casks with tropical fruits and intense pastry notes. Novelty: First Aikan whisky using molasses rums of the "high ester" or "grand arôme" type (unsweetened), also the first bottled at 40% in 70cl bottle for ever more accessibility. A profile markedly more on tropical fruits, pastry notes with a very high proportion of rum and bourbon casks. Promise: The ideal whisky to bring together lovers of aromatic, fruity and pastry rum and whisky lovers in search of a new sensation. Type: Blended Whisky (pot still distilled malts and column distilled grain whisky) Origin: Scotland Aging: 1. First aging in traditional casks in Scotland for a minimum of 3 years 2. Second aging in the Caribbean, in a Martinican cellar, in a tropical climate for at least 1 year with rum casks and casks specially designed for Aikan by the best French artisanal cooperages Types of casks: Essentially new and used bourbon casks from various Kentucky distilleries, and high ester rum casks as well as a small proportion of French oak casks. Tasting Notes: Short comment: A gourmet and complex whisky, vanilla and tropical to perfection with a hint of sea breeze, with an original character borrowing notes of old rum pastry. Color: gold. Nose: fresh and delicious, it opens with notes of rum baba, flambéed banana, lime zest, vanilla, geranium, and licorice. It evolves on almond milk with sea breeze and toasted accents. Palate: bold and dynamic at the same time, it takes up the fruity notes of the nose with even more gourmet accents on mango, brioche, spread, bitter almond, honey, and black and green olive tapenade. Finish: long and smooth, with notes of small cherries, vanilla, sweet spices and very ripe tropical fruits. Empty glass: lime zest, vanilla, almond and iodine.
