Erravimus AOC Médoc 2019 - HVE
It was one day in October 2019 the day of harvest of our best parcel of 100 year old vines, when the destemmer broke down. We made the decision to undertake whole cluster vinification. This hadn’t been done in such a long time in Bordeaux we didn’t really know how it would turn out. The risk paid off The stalks brought a more perfumed, fresh and complex dimention to the wine almost a little more soul. In homage to its genesis, we called this cuvée Erravimus ,“we made a mistake” in Latin, and we have decided to produce it in every great vintage. This is the new iconic cuvée from the Bouey family’s châteaux.
Erravimus: out of error, we made a grand vin
Clay-limestone soil
Vinification in diamond vats
Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels :40% in 500 liters new barrels and 60% in one vintage barrels
The aromas are a complex mix of ripe fruits, liquorice notes, evolving on a floral and minty side When aired, a spicy background appears, while keeping freshness. The mouth is dense and wide but shows a real finesse. The aromatic perception is in line with the nose, accompanied by Rhodanian spices.
The finish is long, characterized by tracing tannins and an elegant salinity.
