Domaine du Clos du Roc is known as the quintessence of 'Silex' terroir of the Sancerre appellation. As the former property of the Saint-Satur Abbey, founded in 1450 by the Augustinian monks, it has been the sole owner of the most sought-after 'Clos du Roc' parcel composed of the unique 'Silex(flint)' soil. Formed in the Cretaceous period more than 113 million years ago, Silex soils have the capacity to accumulate and then reflect the heat to the vines. It's especially known to transmit its particular bouquet to the wines! Our monopole 'Roc de l'Abbaye' cuvée offers a complex aromas of citrus fruits and flowers with intense, long-lasting acidity, with a beautiful minerality.
