Condrieu
Since ancient times, vines have always been able to find their place, grasping onto steep slopes, or huddling onto small terraces carved out by man. Our vineyard of 5 hectares, overhanging the Rhône river, is situated mainly in the south of the area appellation. South-southeast facing, the vines enjoy the best hours of sunshine. Soil is mainly composed of rocky and crumbly granite, very shallow surface. Water drains away easily. These good conditions combined with unique geology give rise to some inimitable wines. 100% hand-picked in the first-half of September.
In the cellar : 90% destemmed, the grapes are gently pressed in pneumatic press after skin contact maceration. Natural must clarification of the juice. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at 16/18°C for 70% of the volume, with no malolactic fermentation to keep freshness. 30% is fermented and aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, malolactic fermentation carried out. Ageing on lees to bring richness and complexity. Blending, soft fining and cross flow filtration before bottling.
Tasting : Condrieu Cave Saint Desirat has a brillant clear gold yellow dress. The nose has intense flowery notes (white flowers, blossom) and fruity notes (apricot, peach). On the palate freshness and roundness, unctuous texture enhance a long finish.
To open at 12°C within 2 or 3 years of bottle.
Recommended on its own or accompanied with subtle dishes like seafood, creamy white meats, foie gras or even exotic salads.
