Château Prieuré de Beyzac 2020 - Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois - Bordeaux

TASTING NOTES

“Fresh plums, spiced cherries and cassis to the nose. Nothing complex here but it shows good balance with firm tannins coasting along with the juicy fruit. Fresh, medium-length finish. Drink now.” 90/100 James Suckling - Tasted in November 2022.

ENJOY WITH FOOD

This great wine will certainly keep for many years in a cool cellar. If you lack patience, you will have to decant it for a good two hours! It would be perfect with a piece of meat grilled with vine shoots. A real favourite of the Charlassier family !

REWARDS

Silver medal at Concours Général Agricole de Paris and 90 / 100 James Suckling

A GREAT CRU BOURGEOIS ESTATE LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE

Lieu-dit Beyzac was declared a Cru Bourgeois du Médoc in 1932 thanks to the great potential of its terroir. The family is committed to the environment through an agroecology project to keep improving the quality of the berries ! Château Prieuré de Beyzac has been committed to Terra Vitis since 2011.

THE VITICULTURE

The picturesque 13.76 ha estate is located close to the village of Saint-Estèphe and just 2 kilometers away from Château Calon Ségur, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855/

The vines are situated on a clay-limestone hillside, rich in grassy soil and organic matter. The parcel  is made up of 60% Merlot Noir and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon with an average vine age of 25 years.

OENOLOGY

The Château always looks for most healthy and mature grapes. The harvest is done mechanically with modern equipment. Grapes are then sorted to ensure the best possible quality.

Temperature-regulated stainless tanks ensure that minimal intervention is required for a traditional vinification. The wine is matured in 300-liter oak barrels (25% of which are new) for 12 months to add body and balanced notes of spice.
