CHÂTEAU DE FITÈRE Cuvée Karine AOC Pacherenc du Vic Bilh
Château de Fitère is located on the hill of Cannet in the Gers. Since 1760, the vineyard has been passed down from generation to generation, often by daughters. When René Castets took over the estate, he worked 14 hectares of vines, which he undertook to restructure. A modern and dynamic winegrower, he now owns 55 ha of vines in Madiran and 5 ha in Pacherenc du Vic Bilh. René Castets has created his own style of wine by shaping the emblematic Tannat grape variety to offer intense, concentrated, round but also fruity and elegant Madiran wines, as well as mellow Pacherenc wines with powerful aromas and persistent flavours. Over the last twenty years, it has diversified by producing light and fruity Gascony wines, in dry and sweet white, rosé and red. This vineyard now comprises 80 hectares of vines in the Cotes de Gascogne. Karine, his daughter, an agricultural engineer, has been at his side for the past 4 years and in 2020 she settled on organically managed plots. A new range is born with a Madiran wine, red Cotes de Gascogne and a grape juice in conversion to organic farming.
