Château Cazeau - Le Moulin

Bordeaux ORIGIN - TERROIR The Château Cazeau wine domaine is built around a beautiful chartreuse house that dates back to the 16th century. It is ideally situated in Gornac, on one of the Entre-Deux-Mers region's oldest roads, just a few kilometres east of Sauveterre de Guyenne. It covers over 300 hectares of vines and enjoys an exceptional setting on primarily south-facing clay-limestone hillsides which reach as high as 110 metres above sea level. The vineyards are planted all the way around the château and are carefully divided up between red and white varietals according to the characteristics of the terroir. The vines have an average age of 35 years and are cultivated with the utmost care and attention using traditional and environmentally respectful practices. The vast vat house is fitted with state of the art winemaking technology including temperature control, pneumatic press and micro-oxygenation, essential for the production of high quality wines. The archives show that the history of the windmill overlooking the wine domaine is closely linked to that of Château Cazeau. It was built in 1601 by the owners during that period and the windmill continues to watch over the domaine's vines 4 centuries later. CULTIVATION Sustainable methods Manual pruning Soils enriched with organic manure VINIFICATION Parcel selection from the highest quality and most early ripening vines Limited yields Vinification based on the principles of barrel-ageing: controlled oxygen supply, high presence of wood, significant extraction and several rack and returns GRAPE VARIETIES 100% Merlot TASTING NOTES Château Cazeau Le Moulin reveals a deep, intense colour and a fresh, elegant bouquet combing violet, black berries and cherry underpinned by a hint of toast. The palate offers a rich, smooth attack dominated by fruity aromas, taut tannins, well-integrated oak and a delicate touch of acidity that gives the wine its tension and length. FOOD & WINE PAIRING Château Cazeau Le Moulin makes the ideal choice for grilled red meats, white meats in sauce or mild cheeses. Enjoy served at 18°C.
