With its subtle smoky notes, BM Notes Fumées is still unmistakably a Black Mountain whisky in aromatic terms. Blended from a base of fruity and two separately matured peated whiskies, it spends around 12 to 16 months in Armagnac casks. It is pale gold in colour. The nose is mineral, with initial notes of medicinal plants, barley and smoky aromas. Next come the floral, dried fruit and woody notes. The floral-fruit combination on the palate leads from smoky to toasted notes and malt.These are followed by tastes of vanilla, citrus and leather, with subtle herbaceous notes. The finish is rich and flavoursome, with a hint of mocha.
