Who are we

Maison champenoise de caractère Maison de BARFONTARC is authentic. Authentic in its origins, authentic in its location. It humbly continues the approach taken by past generations of winemakers who fought hard to establish its unique identity. Maison de BARFONTARC is proud of its roots, yet always looks to the future, spurred on by its values and convictions, buoyed by the character and determination of its bold winegrowers, all driven by the same desire to share their terroir and their know-how. ORIGIN STORY In 1962, around fifty winegrowers from the Côte des Bar villages of Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville, decided to join forces to pool their pressing processes, and founded a wine cooperative. They also wanted to showcase and promote the hard work achieved by the winegrowers, so decided to create the de BARFONTARC brand as a nod to their roots: the first three syllables in the names of the three original villages. CHAMPAGNES Champagnes made by Maison de BARFONTARC tell a story, they recount their heritage, their know-how, they convey a respectful yet boldly innovative state of mind. Each vintage has its own personality and expresses itself differently, but generosity, delicacy and consistency are de BARFONTARC hallmarks. From the Héritage Brut cuvée to limited-edition cuvées, Denis Tardieu, the house’s Cellar Master, highlights the multiple nuances of the Champagne terroir in the Côte des Bar. OUR AUBE TERROIR IN ALL ITS GLORY Maison de BARFONTARC brings together 54 winegrowing families who tend around 130 hectares of vines in eight villages around Baroville: Arconville, Arsonval, Baroville, Dolancourt, Fontaine, Montier-en-l’Isle, Rouvres-les-Vignes and Trannes. TRADITIONAL KNOW-HOW As it has cooperative status, Maison de BARFONTARC enjoys a vast and varied supply of grapes, which means a wide range of blending options and can guarantee consistent-quality wine production.
