Who are we

Nestled on the enchanting island of Corsica, jewel of the Mediterranean and birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, Le Domaine de Pratavone embodies the rich identity of its land – where tradition, nature, and history come together in every bottle. Just a few kilometers from Ajaccio, the estate carries forward a powerful heritage, blending Corsican character with modern expertise. It all began in 1964, when Jean Courrèges, freshly arrived from Algeria, chose the rugged yet promising Taravo Valley to plant his first vines. His dream? To build something enduring, rooted deeply in the land. Thirty years later, his daughter Isabelle, a trained oenologist, took the reins. She modernized the cellar, expanded the vineyard, and refined the winemaking process – all while preserving the soul of the Domaine: indigenous Corsican grape varieties, a pure expression of terroir, and a humble respect for the craft of wine. Today, Domaine de Pratavone spans 50 hectares of south-facing vineyards cultivated using sustainable practices (HVE certified) on granite-rich soils. Combined with the Mediterranean climate, generous sunshine, and fresh marine breezes, this unique terroir produces wines of remarkable freshness, balance, and elegance. Our wines: Red: Subtle, balanced, and spicy, it reveals all the aromatic complexity of Sciaccarellu. White: Dry, floral, and vibrant – the purest expression of Vermentinu elegance. Rosé: Delicate, luminous, and fruit-forward – a joyful symbol of Corsican conviviality. Proudly bearing the Appellation d’Origine Protégée (AOP), each bottle of our wine also carries a fragment of Napoleon’s spirit – admired across cultures for his ambition, strategy, and global influence. Like him, we believe in the pursuit of excellence and the power of destiny. Today, we are ready to introduce our wines to new horizons – in Asia, Northern Europe, the United Kingdom, and North America.
