Who are we
Château Fonroque was bought in 1931 by Adèle and Jean Moueix. Alain Moueix, their great grandson, has been at the head of the estate since 2001. He introduced there a way of working based on a deep respect for the environment, leading to be the first Grand Cru Classé certified in organic viticulture since 2006 and Biodynamic since 2008. Subsequently, Château Fonroque was purchased by the Guillard family in 2017. This was followed by the renovation of the buildings and the construction of a new vat room. Established on an ancient Gallo-Roman site, Château Mazeyres is on of the largest estates in the Pomerol appellation, covering 25,50 hectares of vineyards. Converted to Biodynamic farming in 2012, it earned Biodyvin certification in 2018, reaffirming its commitment to environmentally respectful viticulture. In 2020, the Guillard family became the owner, continuing the estate's legacy of excellence. Since 1992, Alain Moueix has been at the helm of Château Mazeyres, bringing his expertise and vision to the productin of exceptionnal wines. Alain Moueix is an agricultural engineer and oenologist. He trained at INRA and in Burgundy, California and New Zealand, where he worked on two vintages in the Brajkovich family winery. He worked with Jean-Claude Berrouet throughout the 1990s as well as owning Château Saint-André Corbin, 25 hectares in Saint-Georges Saint-Émilion. He ran Château Mazeyres in Pomerol from 1992 to 2020. Throughout his career, Alain Moueix has taken on various community roles including President of the Association des Grands Crus Classés de Saint-Émilion, Vice-Premier Jurat of Saint-Emilion, and Vice President of Cercle Rive Droite. He is currently Vice President of Biodyvin, a syndicate of biodynamic winegrowers.
