Who are we

This small vineyard is a jewel, family adventure of Sophie and David producing wines renowned worldwide. Their vines are planted in the Margaux and Haut-Médoc appellations. Their wines have been certified organic for 15 years... Located in the heart of southern Médoc, between the classified grands crus Château Cantemerle and Château Giscours, the vineyard of Château Mille Roses is based on gravel soils from Garonne. A bit of our history ! The history of Château Mille Roses is quite emblematic of this new generation of winemakers from the Médoc who have taken over a family heritage to make it a recognized artisanal estate. Sophie and David Faure created the estate in 1999 in Macau, in the south of the Médoc, between the famous properties of Château Giscours and Château Cantemerle. David Faure had inherited the buildings and a small wine-growing base after his parents' untimely death. The first year, Mille Roses contained only half a hectare of Merlot and half a hectare of Cabernet Sauvignon! The name "Mille Roses" is a tribute to David’s mother, passionate about flowers and rose bushes. It also evokes the style of wine sought by the couple: aromatic, elegant and fine wines. David, trained in viticulture and oenology at the Ecole de Beaune in Burgundy, took care of the technical and commercial development of the estate, while Sophie took charge of all administrative and financial management. Together, they gradually expanded the farm to reach about 10 hectares (25 acres) divided between the appellations Haut-Médoc and Margaux. Their philosophy is very focused on respect for the terroir and a non-interventionist approach. From 2010, they committed the domain in a complete biological conversion, abandoning herbicides and chemical pesticides. This decision is motivated as much by an environmental conviction as by the desire to pass on a healthy estate to their three children, Jean, Marie and Suzanne. Over the years, the estate has built a real reputation among lovers of "artisanal" and organic Bordeaux, with wines regularly noticed by the international specialized press... The small castle very typical of the Médoc, its gardens and master buildings and outbuildings at the service of wine, have been completely renovated by Sophie and David over the years. Because of its small size and elegance, many people would find it a good place to live! Their history remains that of a small family estate that has become a discreet reference in the south Médoc thanks to patient progress, a lot of manual work and a very personal identity.
