MAISON WESSMAN
Who are we
Reinventing tradition and redefining excellence. At Maison Wessman, we know that excellence is born of passion and potential, hard work and commitment to the highest standards. Above all, we know that excellence is about achieving the perfect balance. More than 15 years ago, Robert Wessman, a wine connoisseur and world traveller, acquired the 12th century Château de Saint-Cernin in the Périgord region of south-west France with a clear vision: to honour the estate's wine heritage while exploring new horizons. This is how Maison Wessman was born. Today, our ambition is to make world-class wines from carefully selected French terroirs. We know from experience that the most remarkable achievements are accomplished by seeking the unexpected and by seeing potential in the not yet realized. We also understand that vision is just the beginning. Excellence requires dedication and reliance on the skills of the best. This is why our wines are crafted under the expert supervision of a highly experienced team. Maison Wessman is committed to crafting highly typical fine wines from selected terroirs. The secret to their distinctive character undoubtedly lies first in their unique terroirs. The red wines are made from grapes from our parcels of the exceptional Issigeac terroir, identical to those found in our Saint-Emilion neighbours such as Château Figeac or Cheval Blanc. The white wines are made from blends of grapes from the Serpent terroir, the highest in altitude within the Limoux appellation, internationally renowned for its Chardonnays. The wines come from the barrels destined for the Toques & Clocher auctions. Driven by a love of the region, Robert Wessman acquired the iconic 45-hectares Vignoble des Verdots in 2021, located a few hundred metres from Château Saint-Cernin. Les Verdots offer wine ranges for every occasion that are the perfect expression of a terroir rooted in its history. Les Verdots is fully committed to an innovative approach, in favor of an eco-friendly, eco-responsible and sustainable viticulture. This contemporary estate is at the service of its terroir, the soil and nature. As such, we are developing a global strategy to improve our growing and winemaking techniques. We are HEV3 certified, have launched large vitiforestry plan, participate in soil regeneration and carbon sequestration programs and use new eco-designed and light bottles made of linen. Our goal? To achieve true carbon neutrality before 2030.
