Taste France Pavilion at Shanghai's China International Import Expo (CIIE)
December 5th 2023
With the reopening of Chinese borders in spring, the 2023 CIIE hosted 3,486 exhibitors from 154 countries, a significant increase from 2,800 in 2022, drawing over 394,000 visitors. Agreements reached during this edition totaled $78 billion, signaling a robust recovery and growth for participating businesses.
Organized by Business France in Paris and China, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, the French Pavilion showcased 11 French companies in the agri-food sector and wines and spirits under the 'Taste France' banner.
During this sixth edition of the CIIE, our pavilion in Hall 1.2 dedicated to agri-food products welcomed an official Chinese delegation, lead by LING Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.
During his press conference, French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary highlighted French excellence in the agri-food and wines and spirits sectors. The fair's first day concluded at Villa Basset, the residence of the Consul General in Shanghai, with a Taste France Evening attended by French exhibitors, sponsors, representatives from government institutions, and VIP guests.
The new pavilion concept and the Taste France communication campaign, promoted by videos on large screens and salon billboards, effectively promoted the French offer and increased visibility for six sponsors and four interprofessional organizations (Interbev, Inaporc, Cniel, and Interfel).
As in previous editions, several masterclass sessions within the pavilion's Tasting Room showcased French excellence to qualified groups of 15-20 people through useful insights and product tastings.
