Ref. : 46a8da64
The Charron parcel, with its 10.54 hectares in the Côte d'Or, Côte de Beaune, is the only appellation in the whole of the Santenay vineyard (392 hectares) to have benefited from a flow of iron ore during the uplift of the Morvan, leading to the appearance of the cliffs at the foot of which lies our 0.88 hectare parcel. Farming is carried out according to the principles of organic Agriculture since 2008 with due respect to the moon phases. Bio Certification was obtained in 2011 (Bureau Veritas).Tilling the soil is mainly manual. All phythosanitary products are natural. The harvest is manual. The fall of 2021, both in terms of rainfall and temperature, was close to seasonal norms, but the winter that followed was drier than usual. From spring onwards, we could indeed speak of a water deficit, and this was able to last until June with a significant disparity within the vineyard. The year once again saw an early bud break, with the first Patches at the Pointe Verte stage observed from the first week of April for the most advanced sectors. But 2022 was not spared by the early season frost episodes on April 3-4 and 9-10. Fortunately, they will have had only a limited impact and will have been out of all proportion to what happened in 2021, as most of the plots were just getting started. The stadiums followed one another at a rapid pace. at high speed, to produce flowering at the end of May. Temperature records continued to accumulate to make this the hottest vintage on record. Despite these conditions, scalding and roasting remained very discreet, this is partly explained by the heavy rainfall in June but also by the adaptation of the viticultural practices put in place by the winegrowers. Finally, it was the lack of water and the high temperatures that were the main problem. Finally, it was the lack of water and the high temperatures that were the main problem. However, end-of-season precipitation (return to often just before harvest, allowed for active foliage to be preserved, and to fill the berries with juice on plots that were still Receptive.
