Chateau Vitallis white
PRESENTATION
The origins of Château Vitallis go back to the 13th century. Built as the residence of the Lord
of Fuissé, it is now one of the oldest buildings in the famous Burgundy village of Fuissé. It
became a family wine estate in 1835, proudly embedded in Burgundy, at the foot of the hill
of Solutré.
Today, the vineyard covers 17 hectares, all planted with the noble Chardonnay grape
variety.
TERROIR
The terroir, the soil and the altitude change from one plot to another and the Dutron family
transcends their particular uniqueness to create rich and singular wines, including this
selected cuvée “Les Vignes du Château” produced on plots which are enclosed within the
protected appellation area of Pouilly Fuissé.
WINEMAKING
After the harvest, the grapes are immediately pressed at the cellar reception; the alcoholic
fermentation is carried out naturally with indigenous yeasts with 30% of the fermentation
realized in oak barrels and 70% in thermo-regulated stainless-steel tanks. Château Vitallis
selected
this long and natural process because it gives to the wine more complexity. The malolactic
fermentation will also take place naturally in a second time. The wine is then aged for
approximately 12 months, 30% in oak barrels and the remaining volume in stainless-steel
tanks.
The wine is then bottled at the Château and will rest in the bottle until the shipment.
